White Ladies Priory Projection

Recently, I was invited by NEWWAVE Art to respond to the old ruins of the White Ladies Priory, northwest of Wolverhampton, UK. Responding to the site remotely, this brief series is constructed from composites of recent satellite imagery depicting the priory and its surrounding landscape. When magnified, the limitations of current free-to-use satellite renderings creates ambiguous, indeterminate structures that operate on impressionistic digital strokes, boundaries, and artefacts. Juxtaposed against the 12th century structure of the priory, these examples of digital degradation and abstraction rebut the semblant certainties of the digital landscape.
