These wind drawings were made yesterday - the 27th of July. The left (inverted), is a composite of two consecutively made wind drawings - a compression of the exposure duration. The right drawing is a single exposure made over 69 minutes in the late afternoon.

The prevailing wind direction in Canberra varies - northwesterly winds are predominant from April to December. In the remaining months, the wind is most often from the east. Yet the sustained period of southerly winds over the last couple of days has generated some distinctively consistent results. Guided by wind speeds of up to 32 km/h, these drawings are keenly similar, signalling a marked continuity in wind behaviour.

One of my most recent wind drawings is currently in the online Postcards from Gungahlin exhibition. Running from the first of July to the first of November this year, the exhibit features 142 artworks created by residents of Gungahlin and its surrounding suburbs. You can have a look at the exhibition and vote in the people's choice award here.
