Sydney CBD

Windows masked off by black garbage bags, shops shut due to the decrease in customer traffic. Combined with a plastic guard that blocks conditioned fingers, a pedestrian crossing button is wrapped in clear film, an additional preventative measure?

But graven on your bark may ye bear such writing as shall declare Cydippe beautiful

- Callimachus (310 - 240 BC)

Towards the eastern fringes of the Sydney CBD, the city laps at the edge of Hyde Park - the oldest public park in Australia. The southernmost link in a chain of parklands that extend to the shores of Sydney Harbour, Hyde Park is bisected lengthways by a promenade enclosed in an archway of mature Hill's Weeping Figs. The promenade, a dappled passage for commuters and tourists, is a place of juxtapositions - and on the faces of many of the Hill's Figs are the raw calluses of arborglyphs, markings cut into the exteriors of living trees.
